{ScrappingClearly} Hello Olaf ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hi there my scrappy friends and fellow ScrappingClearly fans! I'm here with you sharing some inspiration for the fun July sketch challenge over at ScrappingClearly! You still have a few days left to get your entries in so make sure you head over to the FB group here to upload your take!

Today I am using the beautiful Pink Paislee C'est La Vie collection to document the day we met and brought home our bunny Olaf!

Here is the sketch in case you have missed it

And here is my take on the sketch!
I really, really loved this months sketch, once again designed by Peg - it was super fun to work with!

I have stayed pretty true to the sketch though I moved what I read as the stitching around the whole page further out and changed up 1 photo for 3. You'll notice too that my title and journalling, though they take up the same space on the page as the sketch, are also changed up a bit!

I started with a quick coat of clear gesso all over the background paper (paper #10) and then grabbed my Metallic Mint gelato and mixed it with some water to make a watercolour paint for the background! I've also added in a couple of swipes of my Lime gelato. Doesn't it look great! It's hard to capture the sparkly finish on camera but, swoon!

I knew I wanted to line my photo's up across the page over the watercolour and had decided to fussy cut some flowers from Paper #8 to layer behind the photo's as well and LOVE how this looks!

I grabbed the ephemera pack for the big "hello" piece which I knew I was going to use for my title and also a gold edged label for the date. The black and white stripped alpha's are from my stash.

I wanted to bring that yellow up the page so grabbed that yellow washi strip from the washi pack and layered that behind my photo at the top. While I had the washi out I tore off a small piece to go under my title.

I have used some of the cork hearts and black tiny vellum word stickers to finish my page off.

Oh, I have also used some scraps from Paper #3 & Paper #2 for layers behind my photo's.

My process video is linked below if you would like to see my page come together

And that is that!! So, thank you for stopping by, I hope I have inspired you to pull out some goodies and play along with the July challenges in the last few days of the month!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast} Believe In Your Own Magic ~ OTP canvas

Hello fellow Colour Blasters!! I hope today finds you well and ready to be inspired! Melinda here with you today with a little something different!

I am sharing a little OTP canvas artwork I created!

Here is my finished design and I just LOVE how it came out in the end! I was inspired to create this because I really, really, really wanted to colour something (I haven't picked up my copics in MONTHS) so started with a class image from a class I am enrolled in and off I went!

If you are interested I do all of my colouring classes with Alyce from Kit and Clowder, follow the link and you can see what she has on offer!

I forgot to write down the copic colours I used but PLEASE if your interested to know leave me a comment and I will have a look into it for you but I do know for certain this is my skin combo:
E000/E00/E21/E11/E04 and R20

Here is how my project came together in video form

Otherwise (or as well as ;) ) read on for my step-by-step's!!

First up (and I'm sorry, I forgot to take a photo!) I grabbed some thick cardboard from some packaging and my A4 sized canvas pad and cut them both down to 5" x 7". I adhered them together using our White Heavy Gesso and then also applied a coat of gesso to the top of the canvas paper and left to dry.

My next step was to add some texture to my faux canvas with some more gesso and a stencil in a diagonal from top right to bottom left.

I let that air dry (I didn't want the bubbly texture the gesso can get when you heat it) and then worked on my layers using my colouring as the main feature (coloured with copic markers). Love how these look all layered up and distressed!

Now I know what my layers are going to look like it's time to start work on the background of my faux canvas. Please be aware that the step-by-step photos are not of the actual end piece as I got carried away while creating ;)

The only difference (besides the stencil) is that I did not gesso the canvas before doing my stencilling so the colours don't move quiet as much around the piece!

First up I started with Sapphire Colour Spray. Just using the nozzle I applied a little colour in drips and drops.

Next I added water both from a spray bottle and a wet paint brush and let the colour move around the canvas.

I dried this colour off and then repeated the process with both Lagoon and Carribean Colour Sprays until my whole panel was covered in colour making sure to dry between colours so the colours blended nicely without them all mixing together completely.

I love how this panel looks! On my original (and also this piece to show you!) I wanted to add a little more dimension so pulled out my Colour Shimmer Dust in Navy and literally used my brush to apply colour over the whole stencilled area. In my sample here I have applied it randomly for depth but on the original you can really see the stencil design pop!

And here is the completed faux canvas with all the same techniques and colours applied

I used my heat tool to dry this off and I just love, love, love how this looks!

It was time to put it all together and I decided I needed a little more texture in the background so first up I grabbed some cheesecloth and then some chipboard which I applied a quick coat of gesso to and dried with my heat tool.

Then I inked this with a pink chalk ink and embossed using the Punch Colour Embossing Powder for a beautiful contrast to all of those blues and teals!

Now I really can stick it all together!! Lots of foam and lots of wet glue to make sure it sticks good!

Once I had everything assembled I decided the edges needed a little something so I grabbed my Roadbase Colour Spray, a paint brush and added a border all the way around the edge of my faux canvas and this just finished it off beautifully!

And here is my finished project!

A close up of those layers and my colouring

Some of that oh so pretty texture from the gesso and sprays

The beautiful contrast of that embossing next to those sprays

And finally all the dimension from all of those layer <3<3<3 Swoon!

So, that's it for me for today! Something a little different and alot of fun! If your "norm" is OTP I challenge you to do a page, likewise if your "norm" is a page, I challenge you to do something OTP, you may just love it and be extra inspired with your next "norm" project!

Whatever you do, please head over to the FB group here to share your Colour Blast creations, we all love seeing what you do with the amazing products available!

I'll see you again soon, until then, happy scrapping!!

{ScrappingClearly} Dream ~ Scrapbook Layout

Hi there my scrappy friends and welcome to the ScrappingClearly blog this lovely Monday! Melinda here with you today sharing a page I created using (once again!) the very awesome Starshine collection by Shimelle! I just can't help myself, I love it!!

Here is my page

I was VERY inspired by this page shared on You Tube by Lillith Eeckels and had a bunch of stars I had created that I wanted to use up and went with this design! Isn't it fun!

I started by stitching that black circle onto my background after drawing (about in the middle) a circle using an empty paint pallet of the page as a template. I went around about 6-7 times and I LOVE the texture it gives!!

I created my stars by first cutting a half or 3/4 of a full 12x12 piece of white card on my cameo. Next a quick coat of gesso, some stamping with black permanent ink and then COLOUR! I have used some Colour Shimmer Dusts by Colour Blast - these little pots are AMAZING to play with. I have used Candy and I think Cobalt but it may have been Peacock.....

When I stuck them down I just used a little dot of wet adhesive in the middle of each star and love the dimension I have achieved!

I used a couple of layers of papers (namely the Gemini and Hubble) behind my photo and then I have used the Chipboard, Flair, Thickers, Paper Clips and Rub-On pens to embellish. Oh and the background paper is Juno!

I have used one of the clear stickers for the title (I stuck that to some white smooth cardstock and fussy cut) and also a few acetate pieces from the ephemera pack!

Lastly the journalling, the date and some splatters, again using the Colour Shimmer Dusts and a paint brush! Oh, and a hint of the Midnight Colour Shimmer Dust to balance out the black of the stitching, the stamping and also my journalling!

If you would like to see my whole process the YouTube process video is linked below! Make sure to subscribe to the channel so you can keep up with all of the new shares over there!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you next time! Happy scrapping!

Happy ~ K+ July 2017 Challenge

Hey, hey!! Today I am here sharing with you my take on the July 2017 (holy crap, July, already?!??) Kraft+ Challenge.

This month is all about roses - use roses 3 ways

I didn't think that I had an abundance of roses in my stash but upon looking I was pleasantly surprised and managed to use roses 5 ways!!!

Here is my page! And I'm super happy with how it came together!

This photo was taken 2 years ago, almost to the exact day - 4th July to be precise - and is the ONLY photo I got of myself on the day that I hit my weight loss goal and since I have just celebrated my 2nd anniversary I figured I may as well scrap it!!

My roses 5 ways are as follows:
Stencilling in the background
Ephemera pieces - both the acetate and the little tag
Chipboard
Patterned paper - both the photo mat and the top and bottom of the page
2 flair badges both have roses

This page is rather different to my "norm" but I really do love it and do love the challenge of doing something different every now and then!

Here are a few close ups

Just as a side note, there are quiet a few different pieces here that are from Aussie companies! Of course, Colour Blast for all of the stencilling and splatters, Funky Flair Studio for the flair and the sequins are from Create By Me Studio. I've linked all of them up, just cause sharing is caring so take a look if you get the chance!

That's it for me for today! Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} WK 29 2016

Hey there ScrappingClearly friends, Melinda here with you today sharing my latest DT project!

Today I have a PL spread to share but before I do have this photo to share with you!

Can you guess what that is?! That is all I have left of my 6x6 paper pad from the Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range! Does it excite anyone else to get this far through a paper pad?!

Anyways, onto the details of our Week 29 for 2016.

Here is the front of the spread

And the back

As you can see I have used lots of the different patterned papers for my cards - I do love to use 6x6 pads for exactly that reason BUT I find myself with a stack of 2x6  strips that I am never sure what to do with! I totally lifted this idea from another very talented PL scrapper Angus K - so a big thank you for the idea!!

You can see here I have just stuck together 2 of the 2x6 strips of paper (using the "branding" strip as the joiner) together to create my 4x6 cards and I so super love this look!! And it's SUPER easy using a paper pad because all of the designs work together!

You will also notice, this is not the best photo, it is quiet blurry but the only photo I got of myself and my boys at the movies so I turned it black and white and the quality is good enough ;)

Here are a few more close ups!

I had enough of the full 6x6 papers left that I was able to also cut 3 4x6 cards from one paper which I think gives a nice balance.

All of those 3x4 cards, know what they are?! They are from the same collection but they are the Ephemera Tags! I have simply chopped them down to size and decorated and journalled on them the same way I would with another 3x4 card. AND using the tags this way means I have extra "ephemera" pieces which you can see in a couple of the close ups above!

I have also used some of the washi tape, enamel dots, decorative buttons, ephemera pieces, word stickers and chipboard elements from the same collection to do a little decorating (AND lots of those pieces are currently ON SALE in the shop right now!!). I added in a little stamping using these stamps from the Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane collection and finished off with some machine stitching and thickers from my stash!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and that perhaps you now have a different way to use up those left over 6x6 pattern paper bits!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Little Delights 4th July

Hey there scrappy friends! Today I'm sharing a page I created for Colour Blast using 4 colours and only 2 product types! I had lots of fun putting this together and am happy with how it came out!

First up I chose my colours to go with the ephemera/stickers etc I had picked for this page

Colour Pastes (from top to bottom)
Singin' The Blues, Blush, Apple of My Eye and Sienna
Colour Shimmer Sprays (from left to right)
Sienna, Apple of My Eye, Blush and Singin The Blues

Seriously, if you haven't yet seen the new Sienna, you MUST get some, it is stunning!!

Next up I grabbed a 12x12 stencil and randomly sprayed my 4 mists all over the stencil.

Before I lifted the stencil off I grabbed a second sheet of white cardstock and pressed that down onto the top of the stencil to get the negative to use on another page - great way to save mist and to get a head start on another background!

Next up, after that was thoroughly dried, I grabbed a stencil, my palette knife and my Colour Pastes and applied the stencil over the top of the coloured background. I applied the Sienna over the Sienna Shimmer Spray, the Blush over the Blush Shimmer Spray and so on....

Look at that pretty shimmer from the spray, swoon!!

Next up I decided I needed some splatters, so again, with each colour on top of the same colour, I used the nozzle of the bottle and applied lots of mist splatters.

I set this aside to air dry and when it was all done I grabbed my photo and embellishments and stuck it all down.

Oh, how I love you Apple of My Eye!!

I so totally love the way this page together and love my subject matter, because, sometimes a donut and coffee is really the only answer ;)

Just a side note, if you have been watching new collections come out then you will  notice there is alot of copper metallics coming out/already available and honestly, Sienna is a PERFECT match!!

If you would like to see my process come together it is available on the Colour Blast YT channel and my own or you can simply click "play" below and it will play right here, in your browser!!

Thank you, as always, for stopping by. I do love playing with the gorgeous Colour Blast goodies and sharing and also seeing what you create from our DT shares!! Have a fantastic, scrappy day!
