November with Dusty Attic

Yikes!! November already!! My how this year is flying past!

Melinda here with you today sharing some pages from Hunter's 2015 album, February to be exact!

I had so much fun with all the chippy pieces and paint!

I started with painting all of my chippy with Dusty In Colour Soot and then applied a coat of Clear Gloss Varnish and popped aside to dry while I got on with my background.

I have used almost entirely Australian manufactured and designed products on this layout as those papers and embellishments are from Cocoa Vanilla's Made of Awesome range. I started with an exclusive cut file from The Cut Shoppe Let's Cut Class 1 which I cut using my silhoutte and then mixed up a concoction of 4 Dusty In Colour paints to to match perfectly with the blue of that paper frame in the layers. The colours I used are Navajo White, Oceania, Faded Denim and Denim. I just plopped some colour onto a palette and mixed away until I got just the right colour! So much fun!

I then added some of the paint to some plastic packaging and some water and basically stamped/smooshed the packaging until I got the effect I was after. I love how this turned out! After that was dry I backed all the arrows that I had cut with some scraps of paper from the same range of papers.

I have used Chevrons Small - both the inside cut and the "left over" bits. And the title is from Mini Captions #6.

Here is one part of the "left overs" from Chevrons Small...

And another.

I have used 3 page pebbles here too which I did paint VERY lightly so you can still see the etched details.

I have used one of the pebbles from this pack here.

This pack here.

And this pack here. I think this is one of my all time fave's too - I have been hoarding that too!!

While I was putting this layout together I discovered just how awesome the clear gloss varnish is too!! Obviously it leaves a beautiful layer of clear gloss but while it was out and I was playing it was the 1st glue I grabbed a few times and it really is awesome for that too!! When it sticks it's stuck but you have a little moving time!!

Onto the facing page which is, of course, a PL style page :)

Again, all my chippy has been treated the same way and papers and stickers are from the same range.

Here is the title card that I had so much fun putting together - am loving getting inky and making a mess on my craft mat!!

Some more of the Chevrons Small and also the Typewriter ABC font.

And some close ups of all the titles on the photographs!

Word Pack #25

And that is it for me for today!! I hope you have enjoyed seeing my pages for this month and see you next month!!

And finally a start!!

Hello, hello and welcome to my 1st official post about my Documentung December 2015 album!

Firstly, for those that don't know or would like the link I am using the beautiful kit from The Stamp Spot as Michelle asked me if I would like be a part of her DD team again. I couldn't resist, especially after learning her colour palette and working with the full to busting kit last year!!

Here are some shots of the kit but for the whole comprehensive list head over here and there are lots of photos and words (I just ogled the photographs if truth be told!!). And you can purchase the kit here.

And here is my work space. I hope that it stays somewhat like this throughout December!

I plan on printing every day after my boys go to bed and doing that days spread. I know some days life will happen and there may be a few that don't go quiet to plan but a little pre-organisation proved its worth a thousand times over last year!

I have yet to fully unpack my kit and sort it so I have easy access throughout the month but this is where my kit will live. I got this cute tray from spotlight.

I haven't had much of a chance as yet to do much in the way of prep but I did pull out my diary, my previous 2 DD albums, some post-it notes, my 2015 album (which is a gold 6x8 PL album) and page protectors. Oh, and a pen 😉

As you can see there a few things already scheduled in. For example on the 5th a group of my scrappy friends and I have decided to do a Christmas Scrap, secret Santa and everything, so I know that that's the story I want to tell for that day. Assuming I only use 1 side of the page protector (I'm totally flexible about this!) day 6 will be on the back side. I have pulled out the gold numbers from the Heidi Swapp pack included in the kit and popped those numbers into the page protector.
For other things that I don't have a date for but I know I want to include I have just written a note and popped into a page protector. A lot of those things will be just slotted in around the day to day stories I will tell and the already booked in things.

And for anyone that is new to my Documenting December journey, our albums, though they are heavily Christmas influenced, are about our December. Not specifically Christmas related. Both of my previous years albums include photo's from my big guy's last day at school fro the year, some charming moments between my kids, an enlarged photo of my Pop that passed away last year (no doubt there will be some mention again this year and quiet possibly many to come) and last year I documented the entire December so there was some photo's and stories from our mini family holiday :)

I can't wait to get started but how I wish this year would slow down just a little!!

That's it for me for now. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will get back to you!! And make sure you head on over to The Stamp Spot to pick up your kit before they are all gone!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Stand Inside Your Love

Hi, hi!! Sorry for the big gap in posts - my mojo has been totally MIA but I think it has returned in full force!! Today I am here to share with you some more pages from our wedding album!!

Also, I have managed to pull together my next post for Dusty Attic so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that post coming in a couple of days too!!

So, the pages for our wedding album - 3 to be precise - 2 PL style and 1 12x12.

I shall show you them in chronological order from the day starting with the 1st PL style page - my ride and arriving and the venue.

I'm not certain that I have mentioned this before but I have pulled a kit together (many months ago now!!) from my stash, mostly papers but there are also stickers, a couple of alphas and some other random embellishments. I have used the 6x6 Maggie Holmes Flea Market paper pad for the most of the paper elements on this page :) I pulled in a couple of small paper die cut doilies from stash and also some of those gorgeous floral pieces also from Maggie Holmes but this time, Open Book.

That strip of text is something I "created" myself. It was an idea I had in my head when I first started contemplating scrapping our wedding. It is actually the lyrics from the song I walked down the aisle to - Stand Inside Your Love by The Smashing Pumpkins. I simply typed it up and then had it printed on both A3 and A4 paper - just regular copy paper! You can see more on the next pages ;)

I don't often get the chance to do filler cards in our annual PL album so jumped at the chance to do this one and make it so pretty <3 Again, more papers and floral pieces from Maggie. And more of that text paper.

I love how this card turned out!! Also, that whole panel on the front flips open and I have used the space for some more personal journalling. Love all the pretty embellishments here!!

The flip side of this page protector is me and my girls walking the aisle :)

I have used the inspiration board from D-lish Scraps and actually started on the facing page - which is coming up ;)

Here is the PL style page

The black and white stripe is a piece of Heidi Swapp Colour Pop 12x12 that I have been hoarding - big time!! I just gutted a small piece from the 12x12 prior to adhering all the bits and pieces. I have used gelato's in the background using the packaging smooshing technique - same on the facing page.

The washi, the sequins and those gorgeous diamond shaped wood pieces are also from D-lish Scraps. I just LOVE Amanda's Just Add Paper Kits!! This months is sold out but so worth a look and the small price!!

Some alphas from my stash, some black stitching also to match the facing page and some Heidi Swapp colour shine in black, gold and pink.

And here is the facing 12x12 page and I gotta say, I LOVE how it turned out!!

Again, almost everything on this page is from the Just Add Paper kit!! The alphas and the tiny word stickers are from my stash.

You can see more of that DIY patterned paper in the background. The font is Manhatten Darling. I used some white gesso all around the edges to blend it out a bit as I had to chop it down a fair bit due to the borders I had to print with.

And here are a few close ups!

I had a real hard time trying to decide which photo to use so I made the photo a flip. Which left a heap of room for some journalling! Win, win! The top photo will hang out of the page protector but there are little magnets hidden behind the layers so that it doesn't flap around too much!

So, that's it for me for today! I have a heap of stuff on my desk (besides the mess!!) including my beautiful Documenting December kit that I cannot wait to start prepping some of my foundation pages! Look out for some posts coming soon!!

Happy scrapping and thanks so much for stopping by!!
