STB October 2019 | Super Awesome

Hey my scrappy friends and welcome to my blog today!! My share today is for the Scrap The Boys October challenge.

I just love sketches so was excited when I saw that this was the challenge for this month! Here is my take

You can see I have stuck very closely to the sketch but yet still made it a definite "Melinda page"

I jumped into my Cocoa Vanilla Studio "boy" stash, specifically to start with my "Boys Rule" collection which I just LOVE!!

I've used papers Happy Go Lucky, Good Times and Straight & Narrow for my 3 biggest background pieces and just love that pop of lime green in the middle!

This was all looking way too clean for me so I grabbed a couple of stamps and some black Versafine ink and stamped in a couple of pieces on my background layers. I've also added some splatters using green, blue and a grey.

I've used a couple more paper layers, one scrap from a 12x12 and some from the 6x8 paper pad. I added in a few ephemera pieces for layers as well.

My title pieces came from the CVS You Rock collection and so too did the film strip tucked into my layers.

I added in my journalling to one of the cut aparts from the 6x8 paper pad, right where the middle photo is on the sketch. And finally, some enamel shapes sprinkled around. So excited, I FINISHED a package of something lol

Unfortunately, due to some stupid tech issues I have no video for this page but I still hope you enjoyed!! Touch wood, all my tech issues seem to be sorted now so more videos coming soon!!

Make sure you head over here for the other girls' takes on this fun sketch and to enter your own page for this months challenge. Remember, I may have followed the sketch very closely but if it inspires you in another way just go for it and enjoy the process!!!

Until the next time, happy scrapping!

STB May 2019 | Oh My Heart

Hello, hello!!! Welcome back to my blog once again today!

As it is the beginning of a new month I have another DT project to share with you and this one is for Scrap The Boys! Being May it is all about Mother's Day!

I went back through my archives of photos and found one of my first Mother's Day when I had 2 babies to love and decided to scrap that! I love the way my big guy is looking at my little guy and the cheeky grin on the little guys face ;)

As you can see I have used a cut file as the main part of my background and this, of course, has come from CUT to YOU. This is an older file called Floral Filled Heart #2 but I just love it and am so excited that I got it onto a page!

I have used, almost exclusively, Cocoa Vanilla Studio goodies to pull this page together and really love the end result! You can see my page come together below in my process video.

As I mentioned in my last post, life has been nothing short of busy so another short and sweet blog post today with lots of photos! I do hope you enjoy!

Head over here for this month's STB challenge and to see all of the other amazing DT inspiration that has been shared! Also, that is where you will need to go upload your take on the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and see you again very soon ;)

STB April 2019 | Wish Big Little Man

Hey everyone and happy April!

My first share for the month is my take on this month's fun "celebration" inspired challenge for Scrap The Boys

And here is my page

I really love this half and half page I created! I wasn't sure where I was going when I started this design but truly love the end result!

Our sponsor this month is the A-MAZING Cocoa Vanilla Studio so I have dug into my CVS stash again and pulled mostly from the Wish Big collection. The right hand back ground paper though is from the Boys Rule collection and I love the boldness of it!

Here are a few more close ups

For even more DT inspiration head over here and check out what the other talented DT members have done with this fun prompt!

That link is also the one you'll need to upload your take on this challenge so make sure you know where to go!

I have a process video for this page which you can watch simply by pressing play on the button below

I do hope you enjoy and I'll be back again soon with another share!

Until then, happy scrapping!

STB March 2019 Challenge | My Love For You

Hey everyone!! A new month and another new challenge for Scrap The Boys!

This month we have a beautiful inspiration board to play along with and I was inspired by both the quote and the colours (one of my all time fave colour combos - navy and light pink) and decided to go big with my title.

This month our sponsor is Cocoa Vanilla Studios and though I have a substantial CVS stash I didn't have just the "right" colours to use for my background or cut file so pulled from my stash.

The cut file I used is from the Silhouette Studio Store and the file number is 111217. I have cut it on an older Dear Lizzy paper and made it fairly big. I also used the same paper to back the right hand side and the bottom of my card stock background.

I added some splatters on my background, behind where my cut file would be, using some of my Shimmerz Paints products.

A couple of layers of scrap papers from my stash behind my photo of my boys and also some tissue paper.

I pulled out my stash of CVS Midnight embellishments and layered those around the page and under/around my photo.

My final step was some enamel dots from CVS also sprinkled around where my photo and embellishments were.

Something different for me, no journalling!! I felt that the title said all that I wanted to say. I may go back in and add the details of the where we were and the why they were dressed up but I do have other photos of this same event (wedding) which I will scrap and tell those details.

A pretty simple page but I really, really love the way this came together! I feel like I can create any page with these colours and I will love it lol

I do have a process video for this and will link it up as soon as it's edited and uploaded. I am currently away on scrap retreat for the long weekend (here in WA) and won't be able to finish off my video until probably Tuesday.

I hope that you find some inspiration from myself and the other DT members over on the STB blog here and do remember to link up to the blog post!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll be back again with another page to share with you all!

CUT to YOU | Happy Together | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello my scrappy friends!! As the month of love rapidly comes to a close I have another lovey-full-of-hearts page to share with you!

This is another page for CUT to YOU and I have used the beautiful "Love Me Some Hearts" cut file which is available here on the website and here on the Etsy store.

I have filled most of my white card stock background with and sent to cut.

I picked this gorgeous ombre blue patterned paper from CVS for my background so knew I didn't want to cover too much of it up or distract too much from it so I kept it pretty simple and just misted and painted the whole file in gold.

I have used the 3 biggest hearts for the photo's I wanted to use to tell my story. I have cut those to shape and stuck behind my cut file.

As I knew I really wanted that cut file and photos to pop the rest of the page is really fairly simple but I just love the end result! I chose a few random hearts to back using some gold printed newspaper print vellum (which I may be hoarding every single scrap of!!) from my stash to add a bit more gold and subtle pattern.

I used some CVS Love Always wood veneer for my embellishment and part of my title and some of the same collection ephemera to finish off my title and add some butterflies.

A few sparkly black enamel dots from the same CVS collection. 3 triangles of 3 around my photos and embellishments.

I added my journalling using a white pen and my final touch was some white splatters using Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray.

And that is it for me for today!
I do have a process video for you which you can watch just by clicking the play button below

Make sure you head over to the CUT to YOU shop to check out all of the beautiful February releases and make sure you head back really soon for the soon to come March releases - oh la la <3<3<3

I hope you have enjoyed and I will be back again with another layout share very soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy scrapping

Scrap The Boys February 2019 | My Happy Place | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone and hello February!! Yikes! Anyone else like me counting down the few days left of the school holidays?! Monday can't get here fast enough but it is the end of a long day today and tomorrow is a new day (and month ;) )

Today I have my February share for Scrap The Boys and just as a side note, this is my 13th share for STB! I have officially been a part of the team for 12 months this month <3 Here is the mood board

And we are again being sponsored by CUT to YOU designs.

I was inspired by the blues and the general feeling of calmness and serenity I got when I looked at the mood and picked the "My Happy Place" cut file by Gwen. It is not quiet available as this goes live but it will be at 6pm Queensland time as it is part of the awesome February release! I had fun backing this file and handstitching the script word in the middle!

I have used lots of Cocoa Vanilla Studio goodies and Shimmerz goodies for this page and I really love the end result!

Splatters but not a lot of mess! I've used all Shimmerz products for my splatters and they are Shimmerz - Anchors Away and Colder Than Ice, Creameez - Ride The Tide and Inklingz - Oakie Bear Blue (this is one of my all time fave colours in fact!!).

Lots of different patterned papers behind my cut file and photo that came from the More Than Words 6x6 paper pad by CVS.

And, as you can see, florals!! All the beautiful florals from the same collection, swoon!

You can see the entire STB team takes on the challenge over here and also load up your take on the challenge for this month.

I have a process video for you today as well, the voice over is a bit dodgy, I'm tired! It's the end of the school holidays and I'm a bit worn out lol You can always mute me!! Either way, I hope you enjoy my process and I can't wait to see what you create this month!

Until my next share, happy scrapping!

STB January 2019 | The Best Summer Fun | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello, hello and welcome to my first blog post for 2019!! I really can't believe that another year has come and gone the way that 2018 did but it has and on life goes!!

Today's share is for the Scrap The Boys Challenge blog and I was really inspired by the colours in the graphic this month and that was my jumping off point.

And here is my finished page.

Would you believe that ALL of the patterned paper I used on this page is actually from a Christmas collection?! Yep! The 3 patterns I have used all came from the Tis The Collection that Cocoa Vanilla Studio released a few years ago and I just love it!

A little mixed media in the background using a combination of Distress Oxide inks with the packaging technique and also some Shimmerz products fairly new to my stash.

I customised a word from a CVS die cut pack to fit my colour a scheme better and then used a combination of that word (summer), some CVS puffy stickers and some other CVS flat alphas and I really love the combination of fonts and textures!

I've added a few stickers from a couple of different CVS collections and also some wood veneer pieces, I loved the inclusion of the wood colour!

I have a process video up if you'd like to see this page come together - there is some amount of shuffling things around the page; my mojo is a little meh at the moment! But I got there in the end lol

I do hope you enjoy and make sure you head over here to the STB blog to check out all of the other amazing DT inspiration, these girls are so very talented!

I hope you are enjoying the beginning of this new year and I am excited to be bringing you some new things very soon!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

CUT to YOU | My Cute Lil Bunnies | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog today!

Today's share is again for CUT to YOU, Gwen Wruck's digital and custom cut little baby and I am playing with this beautiful Scallop Heart cut. I have used the digital version but you can also (of course!) buy the custom cut version if you don't have your own cutting machine.

This is my page and as you can see I have not actually "cut" the file at all!

First I used my Pen (come pencil!!) holder and had my silhouette trace the shape with the pencil. Right, smack bang in the middle of my white card stock background paper. After that finished I went around the lines with  my pokey tool and poked little holes for me to stitch through.

I have done the chain link stitch as I have wanted to try this out for ages and I just love how it worked! And, just for the record, it didn't take as long as I expected nor was it as complicated as I expected so winning!!

After my handstitching was done there was not a great deal to do to bring my page together but I first started with some Gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprinkled on the paper behind where I knew the photo was going.

I have gone stash diving and pulled out the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Hello Lovely" ephemera and used a number of pieces around my photo for embellishments.

You can also see some gorgeous gold dictionary print vellum behind my photo which is all I used as a mat and then I mounted my photo corners on cardboard so it sat evenly with the stitching.

I added my title with 2 different thickers - Happy Life (the tiny white foam thickers) and Hazel (the beautiful gold font), added some enamel dots (I even finished off one sheet - woohoo!!!!) and then my journalling with a lead pencil to finish my page off.

I love using cut files in a different way to cutting and sticking and have even come up with an idea for some clothing decorating for a party my hubby is going to soon - stay tuned for that one!!

I have a process video for you if you are interested and I hope you enjoy!

Until next time, happy scrapping!
