{ScrappingClearly} Enjoy The View Cable Beach ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Howdy scrappers and happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend! A large chunk of mine was spent chauffeuring one of my boys to various birthday parties! How did my 8 year old get more of a social life than me?!? Haha! Which, funnily enough brings me around to this photo, pre-children and pre-Mum-ing!! My, how times have changed!!

Today's share is using the fabulous ScrappingClearly February mood board for inspiration. I've taken inspo directly from the colours in the bottom image which also happened to remind me of the glorious sunsets we get here in the west. Which took me to a Heidi Swapp Minc paper phrase "Enjoy The View" and the photo I chose!

Here is my page

And here again is the mood board!

I love working with big photos for BIG impact!! This photo was printed a smidge smaller than A4 on matte photo paper at home and I surprised myself with having so many bits on top of the photo but I do love how this looks and the feel the whole page gives!!

My background is white cardstock - no prep done, a Heidi Swapp Sunshine stencil and some Distress Oxide Inks. I have ALWAYS struggled getting Distress Inks to blend but these Oxide Inks are so beautiful to work with on so many different levels and blending with a sponge and ink blending tool is SUPER easy and fun!! I have used Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey and Fossilised Amber, starting with the darkest pink closest to the centre of the sunrays.

For a really cool effect I splattered water all over the sun rays and rolled my paper towel over them after a few seconds and you get that awesome oxide effect happening!! I LOVE it!!

For some extra bling I added some splatters using my Bling Colour Shimmer Pot and a paint brush!

Time to foil!!!

I started with the pieces I knew I wanted to use - the title - which came from the Paper Phrases pack and also the letters to spell Cable Beach from the Alphabet Stickers Sheet and orange foil. You can get the foils in a HUGE range of colours in 2 sizes - 6" foils and 12" foils. The stickers/ephemera packs tells you which setting to use your Minc machine on and these were both 3 so off I went!

My title ended up in a different place to where I expected but I really love how it looks and love how I have layered the die cut words over the alphas!

I decided I wanted to do more foiling - it's true - once you start you CAN'T stop!! I grabbed 3 pieces from the Tags Minc set (these are currently on special in the shop by the way!) - the heart, the "breathe" label and the "enjoy" triangle. I added orange foil to the "breathe" piece and light pink foil to both the heart and triangle. I love this!

A little journalling with a white paint pen, my date stamped onto the breathe tag and my page is done! I love all the foiled goodness on this page!!

There is a process video available on my YT channel if you'd like to see this page come together.

Remember, you have a few days left to get your entries in for the February challenges and for your chance at a store voucher. Head over to the FB group here for the challenge albums!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Amazing Things ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hello, hello, hello and happy Saturday to you!

Today I am sharing my take on this months Colour Blast challenge, rainbows!! Here is a sneaky peek!

And here is the actual challenge!

I also have a process video that you can watch right from your browser, just click on the play button!

And off we go with the step by steps!!

I started with Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock, grey archival ink, a stamp, Snow White Colour Paste and a 12x12 stencil. The stars of course ;)

Stamping first! The stamp actually reads "Tired of trying to cram her sparkly star shaped self into into society's beige square holes, she chose to embrace her ridiculous awesomeness and shine like the freaking supernova she was meant to be." I did lots of messy stamping in the background and let dry.

Next I grabbed my stencil, Colour Paste and a little washi to make sure I only got what I wanted! I actually did 2 applications to make the stars a little more random at the top and bottom of the pattern so after the first application was dry I re-positioned the stencil and applied more paste.

I have done this technique similarly before but last time I used hearts and my watercolours. This time I pulled out my Colour Shimmer Cubes/Pots in all the colours of the rainbow. Let me adjust that, the colours I own in the rainbow. Add in Colour Spray in Indigo and Violet and I have the whole rainbow!! You could, of course, do this very same thing with either just the Colour Sprays or the Colour Shimmer Sprays depending on the intensity of colour and sparkle you are after.

I activated all of my colours which are from L to R:
Punch, Tangereen Dream, Sunshine, Envy and Singin The Blues.
Then activated my Snow White Colour Shimmer Pot.
I sprayed both the Indigo and Violet Colour Shimmer Sprays straight onto my work surface and mixed in some of the Snow White to give those flat colours some shimmer, swoon!!!

I grabbed a paint brush and some water and off I went. I did start in the middle with Envy and then did the warm colours letting them spread and mix a tiny bit then let that dry and finished off with the cool colours.

The colour and shimmer here is absolutely GORGEOUS!

I, of course, had to add splatters! I used the same brush and the same colours and off I went! So pretty and so me!!

I popped that aside to dry naturally and pulled all my layers and photo together and came up with my title.

Time to stick it all down! I did pull out my entire Glitter Girl collection (hello rainbows!) and tried to find all the colours in the collection and add them to their matching colour in the background.

My title is a real push for me to even use however, I am struggling a little personally and a little self love goes a very long way so I ran with it! And my journalling reflects exactly what I've just written!

I added a tiny touch of detail to the top right and bottom left of the page using scraps that I had experimented with colours on before I started this page and a tiny strip of washi on each.

I love how this page came together - I do love a good old rainbow - and I feel like it was just the therapy I needed right now ;)

Some of you with a super keen eye would have noticed that the step-by-steps photo's of that rainbow coming together are different to what is on the scrapbook page - you are not going crazy! I forgot to get some step-by-steps (creativity took over!) so I re-did the paste and the rainbow and used my "demo" to make a card!!

Make sure you play along with our challenge this month - just load up your entries over in the Colour Blast Creative Corner FB group, you could win a store voucher!!

Until next time, happy scrapping and take care of YOU!!

{ScrappingClearly} Hello Hipster Bar ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Howdy scrappers!

Today I am sharing my take on the ScrappingClearly sketch for February and after a bit of a rough start - stress has kinda made my mojo harder to find - and picking photos off I went!

Here again is this months sketch

And my interpretation

This layout came together reasonably quickly for me and I even contemplated the idea of no mixed media but the messy 3 year old in me won out!!

There is also a process video which you can watch below!

I started with Paper #07 from the Pink Paislee C'est La Vie collection (yes, still hanging onto some of this gorgeous collection ;) ) and added a torn strip of Paper #03 to the middle-ish of the page.

I built my title knowing I wanted to use one of the gorgeous "Jumbo Words" by Heidi Swapp for the Minc but not sure which one. After picking my photo's I came up with "Hello Hipster Bar" and my word was chosen! I went on the hunt for some smaller alphas and found the Something Wonderful Alpha & Label Sticker Sheet by Teresa Collins which helped me pick my foil colours!

I went with the holographic foil for the title and one of the sheets from the Minc 6x6 paper pack. And then chose mint foil for another of the 6x6 papers from the same 6x6 pack which I layered behind my 2 photo's.

This is where my inner messy 3 year old came out!! I started with some black texture stamps and then I've used Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray in Envy with the packaging technique and also the Colour Shimmer Pot in Envy to add splatters. While that dried I minc'd my pieces and then went back to the background.

I've added some extra texture using some Glass Bead Glitter Gel and a text stencil. This is so pretty - I really love the added texture!! Tip - if you have this (any kind!) in your stash USE it!! Mine is at the point where I really ought to throw it out - it is almost completely set in the tub - but I am going to experiment with hot water before I give up!

Time to stick everything down!!

I ended up using some fussy cut flowers from the Pink Paislee C'est La Vie collection Paper #08 and also fussy cut some butterflies from the gorgeous "Flutter" paper in the Maggie Holmes Bloom range.

A few gold sequins from Studio Calico, my journalling and a date stamp and I am done!

I hope I have inspired you to play along with this months sketch, remember, there is a $30 store voucher up for grabs for one lucky participant! Load up your entries here in our Facebook group!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

I've also used some of the Mini Alpha Stickers, ephemera pieces and also the Sticker Phrases from the same collection. A little washi and some veneer pieces from this pack by Heidi Swapp and this pack by Studio Calico. Some journalling and date stamps and the left hand side is done.

Here are a few close ups of this side

And here is the right hand side

On this side I have used 3 of the ephemera tags by Teresa Collins for the cards and cut a piece of the "Bold" patterned paper to 3x4 for my title card. I didn't feel like I needed heaps of extra's on this side but I have used the photo overlay on the bottom left hand photo, a couple of ephemera pieces and one of the printed veneer stickers. You can't see but the bottom right photo is a flip pocket and on the inside I have a piece of the "Wowzers" patterned paper for my card and also one of the Studio Calico wood veneer pieces.

On my title card I have used another of the Heidi Swapp veneer pieces and covered that with 3 coats of white gesso and used a stamp from my stash with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink. Some washi, mini alpha stickers and a couple of the ephemera pieces and this page is all done too!

Here are a couple of close ups including one of the flip pocket opened

It feels so good going back and getting these pages done! Slow and steady and in the album is way more important than "perfect" to me and I am happy in that place right now!

I had lots of fun mixing and matching all of these different pieces together and really like the way it all came together in the end! I hope I inspire you to get some more stories documented and until next time, happy scrapping!!
